Explicit Dance Works is where training meets opportunity.

For more than 15 years, Explicit Dance Works (EDW) has created a space for dancers to train, create, perform, and discover what’s next. Rooted in strong technical training, versatility, artistic exploration, and real-world experience, EDW serves as a bridge between the classroom and the professional world.

We are not a traditional dance studio—and we’re not quite a traditional dance company either.

EDW is a project-based dance collective, training organization, and artist mentorship community designed to meet dancers wherever they are in their journey. Artists may work with us for a single production, film project, intensive, class, or creative experience, while others become recurring company artists or participate in our mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities.

Our work is intentionally challenging. We believe dancers grow when they are pushed beyond what is comfortable—technically, creatively, and professionally—while still having the support and guidance to take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, and evolve.

Beyond developing stronger performers, EDW is committed to developing working artists. Through training, mentorship, performance opportunities, creative projects, and honest conversations about the industry, we help dancers navigate the transition from dance as something they love to dance as something they may choose to pursue professionally.

Over the years, artists who have trained and worked with Explicit Dance Works have gone on to build careers across commercial dance, musical theatre, concert dance, film and television, education, choreography, and other areas of the entertainment industry.

There is no single path through EDW—and that is intentional.
